Wednesday writing

Congratulations to Mellanie Szereto for winning a copy of my book 'Wife for Three' for her comments over on Tatum Throne's blog. The competition was to invent some new flora or fauna for my sci-fi series set on the planet of Duoterra - the winner to get a copy of my book and I will include their invention in a future story set on this planet.

Mellanie suggested a two-headed lizard since the planet is called 'DUOterra' and its venom is used as a fertility drug, which fits in nicely since the population rate is dropping!

Mellanie please email me with the name for your lizard and so I can email you your book.

Thanks for taking part.

Inspirational Mondays

There is still time to provide me with some inspiration - and win a copy of my latest book!

I was interviewed on Tatum Throne's blog last week during which I talked about the new sci-fi/futuristic series set on tge colony planet of Duoterra and there is a competition running on her blog to invent some interesting/exciting/dangerous/life-saving/beautiful (or whatever you wish) flora or fauna. The one I like the best will win a copy of my book and I will include their invention in a future story in this series!

In the first story (Wife for Three) I have plum-apples - from which they made plumple juice, babbits, jumpalopes, horses with three ears and no tail, a herb called moss mint and wolf-cats in the story to give you some background.

To get the chance to win leave your comment on her blog by Tuesday as I am picking the winner on Wednesday.

Friday funnies

There was an elderly man who wanted to make his younger wife pregnant. So, he went to the doctor to have a sperm count done. The doctor told him to take a specimen cup home, fill it, and bring it back the next day.

The elderly man came back the next day and the specimen cup was empty and the lid was on it.

Doctor: What was the problem?

Elderly man: Well, you I tried with my right hand...nothing. So, I tried with my left hand...nothing. My wife tried with her right hand...nothing. Her left hand...nothing. Her mouth...nothing. Then my wife's friend tried. Right hand, left hand, mouth....still nothing.

Doctor: Wait a minute. You mean your wife's friend too?!

Elderly man: Yeah, and we still couldn't get the lid off of the specimen cup.

Have a nice weekend.

In the meantime, as promised here is an extract:

Bending his head once more, Curt closed his eyes to take in her aroma. Hmm, I know that smell. That is the scent of a woman aroused. Opening his eyes again, he placed his hands on the insides of her thighs to hold her apart and stop her natural instinct to clamp them shut, and moved in to lick her glistening folds. Brianna squealed, but to give her credit, she didn’t move away, so he continued his ministrations, licking around her clit, which was starting to peep from its hood, alternating between her clit and her increasingly wet pussy.
“Oh, God, Curt. That feels…”
He lifted his head. “Feels what, Bree?”
“I–I don’t know. I’ve never felt like this before.”
Curt rose and kneeled on the bed between her splayed legs, tucking an arm under each leg as he leaned forward. Her legs were tucked against her body, and he could feel her quivering. “I know you don’t, princess. This is what a woman should feel in bed. Let me show you some more?”
He waited patiently until she nodded, her eyes trusting but wary at the same time, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
Pushing her legs to either side of her body, he released them and lay down on her body, resting his forearms on either side of her head. Smiling gently, he smoothed some hair away from her face and bent to place a kiss on one side of her lips before lifting his head.
She raised her head in response as he expected, and then he did the same on the other side. Back and forth, teasingly, until finally she grabbed hold of his hair and cried, “Curt! Kiss me, dammit!”
Prolonging his tease, he tried to pull away from her, forcing her to pull him down so she could plant a kiss on his lips. All the while she was giggling at his antics.
Excellent. He had gotten her to take the initiative. It wasn’t about him forcing her to accept his touch. However, he did take advantage of the moment, having gotten her this far, and pushed his tongue into her willing mouth. He didn’t feel the electricity he had earlier, but it still felt good.
When he raised his head and winked at her, she licked her lips and smiled back. Pleased with the way it was going, he dropped his head to kiss her jaw, her neck, her shoulder all the way down to the curve of her breast. He had to force himself not to grab hold of one of them and latch hungrily onto her nipple as he desperately wanted. Instead he edged closer, placing a very light kiss on its now turgid peak.
“Ohhhhh.” Brianna started panting. “Oh, gosh, that sends tingles all the way down to—”
Curt chuckled. “Yes, Bree, down to where?”
Her voice was so quiet when she spoke, he hardly caught it. “To my—my vagina.”
“Good girl.”
His kisses continued their descent, and as he went, he started stroking her side, running his hand from breast to waist to hip. Brianna started squirming beneath him, whimpering, gripping his hair.
Finally he got to her clit, which was engorged, so he kissed around it. As he rose up over her body again, his hands on either side of her head, she arched her back. Waggling his eyebrows at her, he resisted her attempts to pull him down.
“Curt Hollis! You’re a tease. I rue the day I married you.”
“You do, do you? In that case—” and he started to move off her body.
“Don’t you dare!” Brianna finished with a laugh and hauled him back over her.
Settling back in her groove, Curt could feel the tip of his cock rest in her nice wet entrance, and while she was so relaxed, he pushed into her very gently, just the tip of his aching cock.
“Oh.” She tensed.
“Princess, don’t do that. It will be all right, I promise. Just relax and enjoy the sensations you’ve been feeling so far.” He bent his head to whisper laughingly in her ear. “The tingling you like so much.” He felt her slap him for his sassiness and laugh at him. But it worked because he felt the tenseness release, and he was able to push deeper inside her.
Slowly, very slowly, he edged inside, penetrating deeper. Knowing she was probably still too tight, despite his brother taking her virginity. He didn’t think he could get in much farther without discomfort to Brianna, so he stayed where he was, giving her a few moments to get used to his size, before he started tiny, little thrusts inside her. She felt so snug, yet it felt so right being inside her. He was astonished by how quickly he had accepted her as his wife. The thought of her leaving now was something he didn’t want to contemplate.
When Brianna began jerking beneath him, moaning and gripping his shoulders, he shuddered, relieved, and increased his movements to deeper plunges, making sure he was grinding his pelvis against her clit, determined to give her the pleasure she had been denied before.
“Oh, God, Curt.” Her voice was full of need.
“I know, my love. Reach for it. I’ll give it to you. I promise.”

Inspirational Mondays

I dug this out of my photo box the other day. It must have been the start of inspiring me to write erotic romance!!! This is me with the Chippendales mid 1990s. (Whatever happened to them?) For those that don’t know, they were a troupe of male strippers (REALLY REALLY hunky and tall) who toured venues and stripped for a mostly female audience who brought the house down whooping!!

Afterwards they had a photo session – I was first in line naturally and they had to hoist me up they were so tall!!

Additional blog! Guest post on another blog

Hi everyone

I am over at a menage writers' blog (When One Is Not Enough) today as a guest blogger. I was asked a few weeks ago if I would like to do a post following one I did on my this blog about writing menage for the first time and the issues I encountered.

It is a revised version of that post including extracts from the comments I had on that blog.

I also talk about the new book (Wife for Three) which is a menage story and include an extract.

Drop by to read more.

Wednesday writing - Wife for Three

Wife for Three is due out now for pre-orders on www.bookstrand.com/wife-for-three. Here is the cover for this, my first sci-fi and first ménage! I’ll give you an extract next week.

The main characters are from left to right: Eric (sweet and fun-loving), Curt (cocky and impatient), Brianna (unwordly and looking for love) and Adam (silent and brooding). But can Brianna find love with these three brothers as jealousy rears its head?

In the meantime, just to let you know, the sequel to this – about Emily, a bar owner and feisty older woman who has two young men interested in her – is about half way written.

Inspirational Mondays

A friend who is fairly new to writing erotic romance recently asked me what the difference was between erotica and erotic romance as she had a professor who declared my friend's work was erotica. Personally, I think it depends on each person’s viewpoint. But why does one person write erotica and another erotic romance?

This is what I said when I gave a talk earlier in the year about becoming a writer in this genre:

What is the difference is between erotic romance, erotica and porn? Well, the publisher's criteria for erotic romance is that romance must be 70% of the story (I've no idea how they work that out!), it must have a ‘happily ever after’ (HEA) and there must be no adultery, although you can have threesomes, foursomes and more but everyone in that relationship has to consent to it. The heroes have to be noble and honest – which I find a little bit cheesy myself. And it must have a strong storyline. So where does the eroticism come in - let me read what it says on my publisher’s website: the sex must be explicit with no flowery language. In other words the emphasis is on the romantic relationship but with explicit sex scenes (this genre has been described as Mills &Boon with sex).

Erotica does not have to have an HEA, or even romance, there can certainly be adultery but it must still have a good plot. The emphasis therefore is on the sexual relationship as the plot, rather than a romance with explicit sex scenes. So what attracts them to each other, what leads up to this point, what are the circumstances in which they are attracted, eg, the plot?

Porn is simply sex scenes for titillation with no plot or emotional involvement!?!

However, the lines for each type of story are very blurred and often depend on your state of mind. When a friend first read one of my stories she described it as 'soft porn' to another friend. I was a little annoyed. What about the romance, which was after all 70% of the story! But then I thought back to the first time I had read an erotic romance and I clearly remember exclaiming to myself that this was pure porn. As I read more and got used to it I could ascertain differences in types of story. I prefer to read erotic romance to erotica (although I am not averse to reading erotica) and erotic romance rather than erotica is certainly what I prefer to write. The advantage writing in this genre, whether it be erotic romance or erotica, is that you can still write in a variety of genres as you can have erotic romances in space, fantasy, historical stories and so on.

Of course, this is just my interpretation so feel free to leave a comment with your own viewpoints!

Friday funnies

It is two o'clock in the morning and a husband and his wife are asleep when suddenly the phone rings.

The husband picks up the phone and before he can say anything, some talking came from the other end of the line and the husband says "How the heck do I know - what am I, the weather man?" and promptly slams the phone down.

His wife rolls over and asks, "Who was that?"

The husband replies, "I don't know, it was some bloke who wanted to know if the coast was clear."

Have a nice weekend.

Wednesday writing

Various updates:

  • Friend or Foe is now available on Amazon. This is the story of Gina who falls in love with an adversary – Dan – as she tries to get her first erotic romance published.

  • Submissive Training was the number one bestselling kindle book for Siren Publishing on Amazon.co.uk earlier this week - it looked ABSOLUTELY fab to see one of my books at the top - in fact as of Tuesday I had two books in the top ten - we'll see if it is still the same by the time this blog comes out! (Anyhow to remind you this book follows Kat as she attends a beginner’s BDSM conference in the hopes of attracting the man she is interested in).

  • Had a lovely review (below) on Amazon.co.uk for The Submission Challenge (this tells the story of independent Rebecca who is challenged to be Jon’s submissive for 24 hours):

I have read so much rubbish recently! I usually prefer US writers of erotica but the last few books I have read have been by British authors. Some have been co-written and I have been wondering why it takes two people to write such drivel.

I am happy to say Jennifer has renewed my faith in UK writers. This was a lovely story and I want Jon for myself. Lucky Becca!

The book was well written and edited and I read it quickly because I wanted to find out if it was a HEA although from the tone of the story I thought it would be.

Just my kind of book. I loved it.

Thank you Celt's woman!

  • The cover for Wife for Three should be available any day so watch this space (release date for the book is 21 June)! Had some lovely comments from the editor:

This is a strong, well-developed story. The characters are all interesting in their own ways. The planet of Duoterra is an intriguing world. A lot of imagination and consideration has clearly gone into the creation of Duoterra, and it will be a pleasure to read more stories from this fictional world.

Inspirational Mondays - Author interview

On the first Monday of every month I am going to have an interview with an inspirational author.

My first author is Angela Wray whose book Collared: Ashton – a BDSM story in a new series called ‘Collared Lovers’ - is out later this month. Angela is a friend of mine and this is her second book; her first, a paranormal story called The Baker’s Sweets, came out last year. Both are (or will be) available on www.bookstrand.com/angela-wray

The reason she is an inspirational author is because she has worked hard to get this one completed and it went through many rewrites. I am proud of you for sticking at it, sweetie. But she is also an inspirational author because her sex scenes are much better than mine J - I like to think I have helped her improve her writing skill!

Angela describes herself as a sugar whore and she is also addicted to Diet Mountain Dew. She doesn’t drink coffee, doesn’t smoke, or do drugs. She says she is completely and utterly boring (which I disagree!) Read her interview and decide for yourself. Read down to the end and there is a chance to win one of Angela's books.

Tell us about your latest book.

It’s a ménage romance that highlights the love of two men called Collared: Ashton. It is the story of two Doms who are in love but are aware that there is something missing in their relationship and they find it in the heroine, Ashton. My heroes are prior military, and Ty is a hot blonde and Nate a gorgeous Latino man. Both men are large, muscled and yummy. Ashton is a real woman, beautiful red hair and she has hips, breasts and a waist larger than a single digit!

What makes a great hero?

Good material J  Seriously, I think a normal, average guy is what makes a great hero. I mean let’s face it, most of the men who do amazing, heroic things are the ones you don’t expect. It’s the quiet guy at the office—not the sexiest, not the flirt or the ladies man, the real one that makes a difference in the world daily. The real heroes to me are police officers, soldiers, and firefighters. It takes the wrench benders of the military, the police officers patrolling the streets and the firefighters coming to the rescue, to keep the world safe and secure. I tell my children all the time that integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is looking.

Do you have anything in common with your characters?

Not usually J. They are way braver than I am!

Is there any trivia about your latest/forthcoming story that you can share with us?

Talby and Lee are real men! They are friends of my husband that I dearly love, and I can’t wait to write about them. I am thinking their story will be book three in the ‘Collared lovers’ series.

What’s the strangest (bravest, funniest etc) thing you’ve ever done?

Follow my husband across the world, God, I love that man. I would follow him anywhere, and I’ve proved it time and time again. He retired from the US Air Force last year, and for the first time in forever I feel like he is safe and belongs to us and not our country.

Who are some of your favorite authors?

I love anything from Sophie Oak, Jennifer Denys, Missy Martine and Abby Blake.

What are you currently working on, or what’s on the horizon?

Well I am bouncing between, about, four stories. The second in the ‘Weston pack’ series about werewolves, is one of them and the second in the ‘Collared lovers’ series. I’m also working on two other new series—one is about female athletes, and the other is a post apocalypse story. I am mostly focusing on the ‘Weston pack’ series right now.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

Oh boy, my job, first and foremost is wife and mother. My son is 13 and my twin girls are 11, but I also work part-time in the home health field, and love it.

How can you fans find you on the internet?

I hope you enjoyed that interview. Angela has several very different series she is working on. We have heard about her paranormal series, her BDSM one, a sporty one and a futuristic one. Leave a comment and tell us what genre is your preference (one of those or any other) and you have a chance to win either Angela’s new book or her previous book. Drop back to this blog by Friday to see if you have one.

Next month’s inspirational author will be Susan Laine.
