How do you research werewolves?

This is one of the questions I am discussing over

on KD Grace’s blog as part of the ‘Things That Go Bump In The Night’ series, along with what details from myths were included in my story ‘The Last Werewolf’ – for instance, are they immortal and can only be killed with the ‘silver bullet’?

How do they shift shapes, eg, do they go through agony as their bones change or is it instantaneous.

These questions, and more, were particularly important since this was co-written with another author, the lovely Susan Laine, so we both needed to be on the same page!
