One of my other passions after writing is genealogy, which I have done for many, many years. During my researches I was amused to find one archive office had compiled the list of reasons why people had been admitted to the local Asylum. Not amused because I laugh at people in that predicament – no, the laughter came because one of the reasons for being admitted to that particular asylum was FOR READING NOVELS!!!!!
So what would they have done to people who wrote novels – and, even worse, novels like the ones I write!!!!!
Other reasons for admittance included: suppression of perspiration, studying astrology and unkindness to husbands!
