Blog Hop Day 4: Nude & erotic photos

This is the fourth day of my blog hop to celebrate the release of two books this month - Friend or Foe and The Sub Who Switched both available from www.bookstrand.com/jennifer-denys and out on Amazon in about a month. They are the final books in their series ‘Friends & Acquaintances’ and ‘Doms & Acquaintances’.

(ALSO PLEASE NOTE The Sub Who Switched is out on release today! The promised extract will be available next week.)

Each day this week I am highlighting a different theme from my stories. Read down to the end because there is a chance to win a prize.

Nude/erotic photos: is it foolhardy or liberating to have nude photos done?

I often try to include my own experiences in my books. At the start of The Sub Who Switched the heroine has some photos taken for her 30th birthday because all her female friends now have husbands and partners.

One of my inspirations was when I had some erotic photographs taken for my 50th birthday. I wanted to prove to myself that I could be sexy and desirable despite being single and having middle-aged body issues. I found a lovely husband and wife team, Mighty Aphrodite, in Reading.

The photos were ABSOLUTELY gorgeous, even if I say so myself. Leigh and Zena (apologies to Zena for getting her name wrong in the previous version of this blog when I called her Zara! I named the couple doing the photography in the story Lee and Zara and now get confused!! Poor Zena says it happens all the time) are very friendly and make you feel very comfortable. I found it incredibly liberating and had no problems getting my kit off!
Here are some beautiful photos some are me and some are from the internet – I’m not going to say which are which and have deliberately cropped them to avoid any faces showing although I will admit the first one is me!

As for whether it is foolhardy or not to have them done - personally I would say go for it.....

So, do leave me a comment telling me if you’ve had similar photos done and if you found it liberating, embarrassing or scary or, if not, if you would contemplate it in the future. I will choose the most interesting comment each day and the winner will win a free PDF copy of one of my books (see full list on www.bookstrand.com/jennifer-denys). Come back on Sunday when I will have a list of the winners.

And don’t forget to come back tomorrow when the theme is ‘Humour in erotic romances’.

All the best

Jen

  2. Okay...you do not look 50 at all Jennifer! By your pic I'd guess you were in your 30's! :D I've never had a nudes done, but I think it's a great idea. :o) The picture of you is beautiful!

  3. I agree with Tatum, Jennifer. You do not look your age. Beautiful pic and you're a brave woman! I hope I look that good at 50 (which I will turn in about 6 months ;) Not sure about taking nude photos of myself though. But hey, it took me years to break out of my bedroom-door-closed sex scenes to write erotic romance, and now I can't seem to close Pandora's box, LOL.

  4. I have been to Mighty Aprodite too and they were brilliant. I went with the expectations that I would not have nudes taken but Leigh and Zena made me feel so comfortable that I ended up with most of my pictures being nudes.
I loved them and so does my husband - I would recommend anyone who is having confidence issues to go and have them done it does wonders for your self confidence and also your sex life!!

  5. The photos are beautiful and I have read books by other authors as well, where the characters have had photos taken as wedding gifts for each other, which I happen to think is a lovely and very personal gift. I am in my early 50's and have been married for 30+ years... and way back then I am not sure where one would have gone in my small country town to have them taken. I am sure it would have been seen as porn rather than an erotic personal gift. times have changed and I am happy to say for women largely for the better, but we still have a way to go. I have been slowly overcoming my own self esteem issues in the last 10 years and how sad is that to be 40 something to come to terms with oneself... but I am getting there. I haven't done any sexy photos and not sure I would. i think shyness would get me... as you can see I still have a way to go. [smile]

  7. I never had the guts to take photos of myself naked or even when we're making love with my boyfriend. Too bad I wasn't able to catch the giveaways. :)

    1. Hi Natalie, thanks for leaving your comment. I found it very liberating to whip my clothes off(!) but I think it takes a certain type of exhibitionist or someone with courage.

As for giveaways - follow my blog in mid December when I am putting up a free read as a Christmas present to my readers!

  8. I love taking photos of myself naked for my boyfriend but I always tell him to delete them or I delete my copies just to make sure it doesn't get out on the web. Brisbane Escorts
